Kat and I

I moved to San Antonio about 4 1/2 years ago from Denver. I am Passionate about bikes, food and good beer. My work life consists of business intelligence / data science efforts at Rackspace. When I’m not at work I’m usually spending time with my loving Fianceé, Kat, either down in the Southtown area or elsewhere inside the loop. Whenever we can, we are usually biking around town or riding up or down the mission reach trails. Any time we are able to make it to a bike friendly event, I’ll usually be on the penny.

About 3 years ago I purchased my first, of what I assume will be several, penny farthings, also known as ordinary bikes or high wheel bikes. In the picture above is my newest high wheel bike that is based on the Gormully and Jeffery American Challenge/Ideal. It incorporates steel castings copied directly from an original G&J that was built by Greg Barron at Rideable Bicycle Replicas (http://hiwheel.com/). Since my first penny, I have been bringing smiles to San Antonio faces. I’ve had many people snap a picture of me or record me riding with their smart phones from the passenger seat. It is great to be able to have this effect on people just by riding a bike that was from a period long ago.

If you see me out riding around say “Hi”. If I’m not in a hurry to get somewhere, I’m happy to talk and pose for a picture. Also please send me your pictures and I’ll post them up here as well.
